Competencies

"In cooperation with corporate partners and recruiters, Mays Business School identified seven behavioral competencies required for success in business and in life."

1. Communicate: "the ability to get your message across effectively"

  • This is a relevant competency because it is expect that you can communicate in the workplace. 
2. Think Critically: "being able to fix problems and adapt to the situation"
  • .This is relevant because in business you will need to able to think critically. 
3. Create Opportunities: "produce something new for yourself or others in a business setting"
  • This competency is relevant because it allows more work and productivity to happen.
4. Lead: "assisting others to accomplish a goal; leading by example"
  • This is relevant because, no matter what position you're in, you can be leading.
5. Manage People and Projects: "being comfortable in charge of different elements in the workplace"
  • This a relevant competency because you will need to manage different things in business.
6. Work with others: "relying on and collaborating with others in a group or team"
  • This is relevant to business because it is expected that you will work with others.
7. Act Ethically: "maintaining your character and integrity within a professional environment"

  • This is relevant because in the business world you will have to make decisions regarding ethics.
