Mindsets

"A mindset is the lens you use to evaluate a situation. It determines the questions you ask and the priority structure for weighing alternatives."

1. Global: "influence groups/individuals from various backgrounds (cultures, socioeconomic, institutional)"

  • This is relevant to the business world because it causes you to question your influence on others with different backgrounds in the workplace.
2. Ethical: "clarity/transparency, right versus wrong, impact to others"
  • This proves to be relevant because many important decisions in business are based on ethics.
3. Analytical: "objective, data-driven, make decisions"
  • This is relevant as it important to remain objective when making business decisions.
4. Systems Thinking: "various elements that make up a whole, seek patterns/behaviors to identify relationships"
  • This mindset is relevant to the business world because you need to observe patterns and determine how something works.
5. Social Impact: "how something positively impacts others, encourages change for a social challenge"
  • This proves to be relevant to business as society is an integral part of the decisions in the workplace.
6. Inclusion: "respect, representation of everyone, equality"
  • This value is important and relevant to the business world because you need to represent everyone to show they matter.
7. Entrepreneurial: "new, innovative, creative, open mindedness, change/transform, thinking of intended effect/result, determining objective"

  • This is very relevant as it is a crucial part of business to be entrepreneurial in order to achieve goals.
  • Here is a TedTalk, by Bill Roche, that has helped me learn about this mindset:

"Texas A&M University's core values are excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service. Building on these core values, Mays Business School aims to help students develop the capacity for transformational leadership, inspiring and influencing necessary change in self, others, and organizations."
